Improved Hearing with Ear Wax Removal

Ear Wax Removal Home Visits in Epsom

Our home visit ear wax removal service in Epsom is designed for patients who would prefer treatment at home rather than travelling to a clinic. Using portable microsuction equipment, we provide safe, professional ear wax removal in a familiar and comfortable environment.

This option is often chosen by people who struggle with travel, have busy schedules, or simply want a more convenient way to deal with blocked ears without leaving home.

A Flexible Alternative to Clinic Appointments

While many patients attend our clinics, home visits offer a practical alternative when clinic attendance isn’t ideal. Treatment is carried out using the same clinical standards and infection control procedures as our in-clinic appointments.

If you would rather be seen at a clinic, you can also book an appointment at our nearby Epsom clinic:

If you’re unsure which option is best for you, our team is happy to advise before you book.

What Happens During a Home Visit

EYour appointment follows a clear and professional process from start to finish. The clinician arrives fully prepared to assess and treat your ears safely.

We bring:

  • Portable microsuction ear wax removal equipment

  • Medical-grade lighting and magnification

  • Appropriate PPE and infection control supplies

  • Sterile, single-use consumables

The visit includes a review of your medical history, a thorough ear examination, an explanation of the safest treatment approach, microsuction where appropriate, and personalised aftercare advice.

Most home visits last around 20–30 minutes, depending on wax build-up and whether one or both ears are treated.

Who Home Visits Are Best Suited For

Home visits are particularly helpful for:

  • Adults with mobility or balance difficulties

  • Older patients who find travel tiring

  • Hearing aid users needing regular wax management

  • Patients with work or caring commitments

  • Households where more than one person may need treatment

All patients are assessed for suitability. If a clinic appointment or medical referral would be safer, this will be explained clearly before proceeding.

Local Access Considerations in Epsom

Epsom includes a mix of busy town centre areas and quieter residential roads. Some patients choose home visits to avoid traffic, parking restrictions, or longer journeys to appointments.

Home treatment can be especially useful where:

  • Parking is limited or time-restricted

  • Public transport requires multiple changes

  • Health or mobility issues make travel uncomfortable

  • Appointments need to fit around work or caring duties

When booking, please let us know about parking arrangements, gated access, or anything else that helps the visit run smoothly.

Preparing for Your Appointment

To help achieve the best results, we may recommend using ear drops for a few days before your visit, unless advised otherwise. We’ll explain:

  • Which drops to use

  • How often to apply them

  • When to start before your appointment

For the visit itself, we usually just need a quiet room, an upright chair, and space for our equipment. If mobility is limited, we’ll adapt safely.

We also ask that pets are kept in another room during treatment.

When Not to Book a Home Visit

Please seek urgent medical advice instead of booking if you have:

  • Sudden or rapidly worsening hearing loss

  • Severe or increasing ear pain

  • Ongoing discharge or bleeding

  • Significant dizziness or balance problems

  • Facial weakness or drooping

If you’re unsure whether ear wax is the cause of your symptoms, contact us for advice before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to do anything before my home visit?

We recommend having a quiet room and an upright chair ready for the appointment. If ear drops have been advised beforehand, please use them as directed. Let us know in advance about parking, gated access, or anything else that may help the clinician arrive smoothly.

What if microsuction isn’t suitable once my ears are examined?

If removal isn’t clinically safe at the time of the visit, the clinician will explain why and advise on next steps. This may include further ear drop use, a follow-up visit, or referral for medical assessment if another cause is suspected.

Can a carer or family member be present during the visit?

Yes. Many home visits in are arranged for patients who are supported by a relative or carer. Someone can remain in the room if helpful, especially where mobility, reassurance, or communication support is needed.
